There are two basic types of awards, the Scouter's Training Award and the Scouter's Key

• The Scouter's Training Award is meant to recognize individuals who are trained and give consistent service over a one or two-year period to various branches of Scouting.
• Scoutmasters, Varsity Coaches and Venturing Advisors are also required to earn the Scouter's Training Award as part of earning the Scouter's Key.

• The Scouter's Key requires 3 years of service and is only available to Scoutmasters, Varsity Coaches, Venturing Advisors, Commissioners, the District Committee and Sea Scout Skippers.
• A holder of a Scouter's Key may not go back and earn the Training Award in the same program area, but a holder of the Training Award may go on to earn the Key.

• In general, tenure used for the award for one position cannot be counted toward another. Please discuss exceptions with your District Training Chairman.
• The requirements of each award are listed on the appropriate progress cards. (see forms page)

• The individual seeking the award should date and initial each requirement as it is completed. No award request will be accepted unless training, tenure and performance are completely filled out as required. Each award then requires certain signatures before it is turned in, as indicated on the progress card. Please do not turn the card in without the required signatures.
• Once completed the form may be given to the District Training Chairman. It is a good idea to keep a copy of the progress card for your own records.

Completed training progress cards need to be delivered to your District Training Chair.
