Scoutreach Volunteers Recognized With Young Service Award
Honor adult volunteers, companies, and organizations for their service to the BSA by nominating them for the Whitney M. Young Jr.
Service Award. The purpose of the award is to recognize these "unsung heroes" for their involvement in developing and
implementing Scouting opportunities for youth from rural or low-income urban backgrounds.
Nominations submitted by local councils are reviewed by a national committee.
Please allow 60 days for consideration of approval
and delivery of the award.
Councils can use the presentation
of the Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award to publicly highlight their dedication to serve youth of all races, creeds, and economic
circumstances. Councils may also link the presentation to a testimonial dinner or other activity to raise funds for camperships,
equipment, and other funding needs to support Scouting for disadvantaged youth.
