| Visions of Our Youth- Art Contest |

Dear Cub Scout & Trailblazer Leaders: Your youth are invited to celebrate the Detroit Area Council’s birthday by participating in the "Visions of Our Youth" Detroit Area Council Annual Art Contest. Please take a few minutes at your next meeting to distribute the enclosed art contest applications to your youth members. The artwork can be completed at home and the finished product can be handed in at your next meeting. WHO: Detroit Area Council registered Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, Webelos and Trailblazers, ages (6-11) HOW TO ENTER: One entry per youth drawn on the enclosed entry form. (Please photocopy the appropriate number for your den.) Crayons, paints, colored pencils or markers are acceptable. Incomplete, or illegible entry forms will not be accepted. All entries must be received at: Detroit Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, Dauch Scout Center, 1776 W. Warren Ave, Detroit, MI 48208. ENTRIES WILL BE DISPLAYED AT: The Dick and Sandy Dauch Scout Center
JUDGING/COMPETITION: The Council holds a preliminary judging that will take place a few days prior to the Council Competition/Reception. The purpose of preliminary judging is to select the top 3 finalist (total of 18) from each category. All parent’s of the finalist in each category will be notified by the Council if their Scout have been selected as an finalist. A single finalist from each category will be selected and awarded during the reception. PRIZES: A participation ribbon will be awarded for each entry received. Additional ribbons will be awarded in each category: Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos & Trailblazer. Contestants do not need to be present at reception to win. The top three contestants from each categoryreceive an art tour with renowned local artist Hubert Massey. RECEPTION: A reception is held during Scouting’s Anniversary
week (the second week in February). During the reception, a finalist in
each category will be announced. |
