Who Are We?
The Council Advancement Committee for the Detroit Area
Council is made of the District Advancement Chairs from each of the
districts in the council, a professional Scouter assigned as the liaison,
members at large, and the council advancement chair.
What is Our Major Responsibility?
Our major responsibility is to insure that the
advancement program is communicated accurately and applied uniformly
throughout the Detroit Area Council.
What are Some of Our Goals?
To work with the other Council Committees to ensure that
programs involving advancement are implemented within the framework of the
policies and procedures established by the Boy Scouts of America.
To work with Council Committees, District Committees,
and the professional staff to provided timely and up to date advancement
information, communications, and training, if necessary.
Work with the district advancement chairpersons in recruiting and training
advancement committee members. Provide regular Council-wide Advancement
Training Seminars, to insure that everyone fully understands the role
advancement plays in the Scouting program.
Work to insure that all Scouts, Scout Leaders, and Merit Badge Counselors
are aware of the current advancement requirements and understand that all
Scouts "are expected to meet the requirements as they are stated - no
more and no less."
We welcome the Detroit Area Council Website and will use it as a
supplemental means of communications regarding the advancement
requirements, policies, procedures, announcements of Merit Badge sessions,
and Heroism & Meritorious Award recipients to name a few.
The prime resource for communications regarding advancement will still be
your District Advancement Chair. We look forward to entering into the
world of E-vancement with you.
Yours in Scouting,
Warner P. Iseppi
