Centennial Quality Achieved By Five Districts in 2007!

Congratulations to Sunset District, Three Rivers District, Michigami District, North Trails District and Motor City District for improving the QUALITY of the program!

We have just completed our first year in the new Centennial Quality Award program. It has been both exciting and challenging. Over 400 units in Districts across the Council succeeded in improving over 2006 and were Designated as achieving the Centennial Quality District Award! A super accomplishment!

During this inaugural year of the Centennial Quality Award, the evaluation yardstick was focused more on improvement than actual achievement of stated objectives. Each Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout Troop, Varsity Team and Venture Crew are expected to complete and submit the 2008 Quality Commitment and Achievement form by March 15, 2008.

All Districts are expected to complete and submit their 2008 Centennial Quality Commitment and Achievement  form at the March 27 Council Leadership Meeting at First Presbyterian Church, Dearborn Mi.

The objective Of the Centennial Quality Award program is “To improve the QUALITY of program in every Cub Scout Pack, every Boy Scout Troop, every Varsity Team and every Venture Crew in the Detroit Area Council.

Units that earned the CQA may pick up their ribbon at the Dauch Scout Center customer service counter in exchange for their 2008 Centennial Quality Commitment form. District Committee Leadership Centennial Quality recognitions will be presented to those that are present at the Council Leadership Meeting on March 27.

Those not in attendance may purchase in the National Scout Shop after March 27.

Mission Statement

The Commissioner is the liaison between the local council and it's Scouting units. It is the mission of the Commissioner Staff to provide service and support to every registered Cub pack, Boy Scout troops, Varsity team, and Venture crews by helping unit leaders provide a quality Scouting program to a greater percentage of young people. This responsibility extends to actively chartered units as well as those units whose charter may lapse and/or separate. Separated re-charter units are reorganized through the District Commissioner and executive staff.

The Commissioner's individual mission is to keep assigned units operating at maximum efficiency, maintain regular contact with unit leaders, counsel Unit leaders on where to find assistance, note weaknesses in programs, and suggest remedies. The Commissioner is successful when units effectively deliver the ideals of Scouting to their members.
