| Internet Rechartering |
Welcome to the Detroit Area Council on-line
Internet Rechartering System. We thank you for using the Boy
Scouts of America’s Unit Charter Renewal System. Benefits
Unit Renewal Processor The unit selects a person to complete the renewal process. They will need internet access. Site Access and Code The unit will receive an access code in their recharter kit that allow the unit renewal processor to access the renewal access site. This code will be active beginning the 1st day of the month prior to the unit's expiration date. Tutorial We recommend that you complete the tutorial before beginning the actual rechartering process. The online tutorial provides a high-level interactive simulation of the online charter renewal system. Use the tutorial as often as you like to practice prior to beginning the actual renewal of your unit. To access the Tutorial, please click here. Member Information We recommend that you collect all the required information including new member form(s) with appropriate signature(s) prior to beginning. It is a requirement that you are connected to a printer to print the final report for signature. Adobe Reader is also a requirement to complete the process. The unit chooses whether to download membership information from ScoutNET (the National BSA registration system) or to upload from unit management software (Pack Master/Troop Master, Rank n’ File, Scoutmate or Scoutsoft). The system lets you enter new members, renew current members, and update information for any registrant. Renewal Paperwork Upon completing the online registration portion of the renewal process, print the recharter. Acquire the signatures for the charter and applications. Send recharter papers, any new youth /adult applications, and other paperwork contained in the recharter kit (including Quality Unit Application) and all fees to the council office. The council must receive the signed paperwork to process the unit recharter. Internet Rechartering becomes the official rechartering process with the January 2005 charter expiration dates. Paper charters will not be available. Unit leadership will receive their recharter kit as usual from their unit commissioners. |
