Sunset District Mission Statement

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The mission statement of the Detroit Area Council is helping to make Scouting Detroit’s Best Investment.

Furthermore the mission of the Sunset District, Detroit Area Council, Boy Scouts of America is:

Providing a Quality Scouting program to the youth and families of the Sunset District where the best interests of our youth are put first

Making the excitement of Scouting available to every young person who wishes and is eligible to join

Ensuring that every Scout has the opportunity to go to camp.

Serving the communities in which we live through our program and through the youth that we serve

Training unit leaders and their chartering organization.

Being the premier Scouting district in the Detroit Area Council.

Assisting the Detroit Area Council to remain one of the premier Boy Scout Councils in the nation.

Raising the necessary funds to continue providing a Quality Scouting program.
