| Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix Volunteer Opportunity |
For more than 25 years, the Detroit Grand Prix has been supported by one of the largest and hard-working volunteer staffs in racing.Back again this Labor Day weekend, August 29, 2008 through August 31, 2008, the Detroit Area Council, BSA and Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix will provide another unique Scout experience.Scouters (Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, Explorers, OA Advisors, and leaders) will have the opportunity to assist with keeping the Grand Prix grounds looking great! Scouts and Scouters that volunteer will help collect and sortcans and bottles during their shift. There are 6 shifts available (Friday through Sunday) to choose from. SCOUT UNIFORM IS REQUIRED. Work Shifts There are a total of 6 shifts (2 shifts per day): *Shifts are limited to 80 people. The maximum per shift is subject to change if more volunteers are needed for a shift.
Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops, Venturer crews, Explorer posts, and OA chapters can choose one or more shifts to work. Number of work shift spaces are limited and are available through pre-registration only. Transportation, Bus Stations & Parking More information coming soon! All are encouraged to bring their individual snacks. Snacks must be stored in personal cooler no larger than (8.5 in. x 9 in x 12 in). Large coolers are not allowed on buses. All lunches (coolers) must be checked in at the BSA Command Center at the Grand Prix. Pre-registration by group is required via this website (click on the tire on the right side of the page). Online registration is from May 12 through August 25. Registration Updates To make changes to an existing registration, please do so prior to picking up already registered passes, and before August 15, 2008. For online registration questions, please contact Sherrisa Kelsey at (313) 897-1965, ext. 266. Your Grand Prix passes will be available to pick up at the Dauch Scout Center during normal business hours (Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) beginning August 25 through August 28, 2008. You must present a completed roster, or print and bring in your confirmation reciept when picking up passes. Download a form roster from the right side of this page. You will be required to present a completed roster at the BSA Command Center at the Grand Prix for each shift. Those without worker passes will not be able to board the bus. Your unit maybe charged $60.00 per each individual that fails to report for their shift-unless you return pass(es) by 12:00 noon on August 29, 2008.
