Since 1997, the Detroit Area Council has recognized metro Detroit’s top community leaders who have reflected the values of Scouting by their outstanding community service.  Scouting is proud to be able to acknowledge them for their exceptional efforts on behalf of the citizens of southeast Michigan.   

The purpose of the Distinguished Citizen Award Dinner is to recognize remarkable individuals, to create an awareness of Scouting’s positive impact in the community, as well as to secure necessary funds to continue to keep our promise to the 100,000 young men and women that the Detroit Area Council serves each year.
