2008 Boy Scout

Each year the Detroit Area Council works in conjunction with the Michigan Section of the PGA to conduct this annual event.

This event's leadership is a dedicated committee, with representatives from BAE, Fisher Dynamics, Foamex, Lear Corporation, Noble International, Takata and other business leaders in metro Detroit, who have just since 1999 raised over $2,500,000 to support Scouting in metro Detroit. Over $5,000,000 has been raised since the inaugural event in the early 1980's.  The most recent events each had 284 participating golfers, plus over 50 PGA professionals, and have raised just over $400,000 each year! 

Professional Golf Association (PGA), founded in 1916 to "promote interest in the game of golf," is largely responsible for the tremendous growth and interest the game now enjoys. Through the efforts of the Michigan Section, our state ranks 5th nationally in the number of golfers per capita.
