Trainer Development Course (Trainer Workshop)

The Council Training Committee will be sponsoring a one day Trainers Workshop on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the Dauch Scout Center. All members of District Training Teams, Unit Trainers, and other interested parties are encouraged to attend. Become a “Certified Trainer” in the Detroit Area Council.

The morning and early afternoon will be devoted to various training methods including:  presentation skills, using the Teaching EDGE, communications tools, body language, managing questions for effective training, and the five steps of preparation. You will also learn how to have fun and put a little pizzazz into your training sessions.

After the presentation portion of the training, each participant will have the opportunity to practice what they have learned in the earlier sessions. The goal is to receive some feedback from experienced trainers on the things that worked well and the areas that could be improved. This may be the most valuable portion of the training as we are often unaware of things that we do unconsciously such as communication bridges.

It will be a fun day packed with ideas and tricks of the trade that will make you a better trainer. Just like the line from Top Gun: “You’re good, we’ll make you better!”

The training is from 8:30AM to 4:00 PM. Registration begins at 8:00 AM.
