Updated Cub Scout Websites

National has updated the Cub Scout Websites and added a lot of new information. These three websites are:

Belt Loops & Pins for Cub Scouts & Webelos

Belt loops are awarded to boys who complete the three belt loop requirements in an academic subject or sport.  Participation can take place individually or with the family, in the den or pack, or in the school or community.  Academics belt loops are std, and Sports belt loops are silver.
Belt loops may be worn with the Cub Scout uniform on the Cub Scout belt.  Webelos Scouts who have chosen to wear the khaki uniform may still wear the blue Cub Scout belt so as to display the belt loops they have earned.
Many Webelos Scouts may earn belt loops and pins a second time to qualify for Webelos activity badges.  All boys may earn belt loops more than once; however, leaders should encourage boys to try different requirements and earn the pin.  Packs should have a clear policy in place to determine whether the pack or the boy's family will be responsible for the cost of awards that are earned more than once.
More information can be found in the Academics and Sports program Guide found in the Scout shop.
Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Award

Tiger Cubs, Wolf and Bear Cub Scouts, and Webelos Scouts have the opportunity to earn the Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Award. Boys may earn the award in each of the program years as long as the requirements are completed each year. The first time the award is earned, the boy will receive the pocket flap award, which is to be worn on the right pocket flap of the uniform shirt. Each successive time the award is earned, a wolf track pin may be added to the flap. Leaders should encourage boys t o build on skills and experiences from previous years when working on the award for a successive year.

Age Clarification

The BSA National Executive Board has amended the rules and regulations to clarify that no boy may join Boy Scouting until he reaches the age of 10.

Previously, the requirement stated that to be a Boy Scout a boy must have completed the fifth grade or be age 11 or have earned the Arrow of Light Award.

The new requirement says he must have completed the fifth grade and be at least 10 years old or be age 11 or have earned the Arrow of Light Award and be at least 10 years old.

The new clarification became effective May 15, 2004.
