Download the Establishing a New Merit Badge Session

The Council Advancement Committee sponsors several Special Merit Badge Sessions each year.

Special Merit Badge Sessions should meet the following guidelines before the Council Advancement Committee chooses to conduct them:

1. The merit badge requires special facilities.
2. The merit badge requires expert personnel.
3. There are only a few counselors available for the merit badge.

It should be remembered that one of the purposes of the merit badge plan is having a Scout work closely with a qualified adult. If a special session is conducted, it must be followed up by attention to each individual candidate's projects and his ability to fulfill all requirements.

A representative of the Advancement Committee must be available to Chair this Merit Badge Session and be willing to be identified as the coordinator and sole contact for final registration.
