Internet Fund Raising

The Financial Support Division monitored and reviewed placement of Internet fundraising by local councils. Council use of this method of fundraising raises several concerns.

Scouting Insurance Information

Everyone involved with Scouting is concerned with the safety and well-being of each participant. Safety is stressed in literature, at training and in the advancement program. Still, accidents happen and these days no one knows if a family has accident insurance. In order to provide adequate emergency treatment and protect our units and leaders, the council requires units to be covered by a unit accident policy.

Statement on Tolerance of Human Differences

This policy statement outlines Detroit Area Council’s position on tolerance, our attitude toward people and the guidelines that we find important in attaining Scouting’s mission to foster the development of youth. This statement explains Scouting’s stance on excluding matters of human sexuality from its program.

Use of Garfield Graphics

It is important to remember that photographs, clipart, graphics, video, and music may be copyrighted and the unauthorized use is not condoned by the Detroit Area Council. It is even more difficult to manage with the ease of obtaining this media from the internet, use of scanners and other means.
